أعلنت الجماعة السلفية المقاتلة في بلاد الرافدين والتى ترتبط بتنظيم القاعده مسئوليتها عن تفجير كنيسه القدسيين بحى سيدى بشر بالاسكندرية حيث جاء التفجير فى الدقائق الاولى من الاحتفال براس السنه الميلاديه 2011
كما اعلنوا انهم قاموا بذلك لفك اسر الفتيات المسيحيات الذين اسلموا وختفتهم الكنيسه وحبستهم
وجاء اعترافهم بعد ان نفى الجيش الاسلامى الفلسطينى مسئوليته عن الحادث
كما ذكروا فى بيانهم انهم هم الذين ارسلوا شخص لتفجير نفسه كما توعدوا لمصر بالمزيد من التفجيرات
